PDF Resume
I am a photographer who lives in Savannah, Georgia. At the age of
nine or twelve (I can't remember which, but it was definitely one
or the other) I was given my first camera as a Christmas, or birthday
or Hannukah gift. Just like everyone else. I used this Brownie or
Polaroid Big Shot or other hilariously named, quaintly low-tech
kiddie camera for a while to take unsurprising pictures of my friends,
family and pets. After a short time, I put it in a drawer with all
my other junk and forgot about it. None of which has anything to
do with the fact that I make pictures today.
I also "work" in Savannah - this shouldn't come as a shock,
given the fact that I live there. But I aspire to be a dual-city
artist "dividing my time" between Savannah and either
Detroit - the city of my birth - or Alligator, Mississippi, because
I figure the real estate there is probably pretty cheap.
I have two art degrees, but I don't hold them, ever.
I am married to Rob Walker, columnist for the New York Times Magazine,
author of two fine books (three if you count comic books), co-creator
of the sublimely pleasurable Significant Objects, and "the
Michael Bierut of Objectified." Take his Metapoll.
We share our orange house with El Rey, the King of the Dogs. Who
is also orange.
